2) In the Pit and Pendulum time was a very important symbol. It was represented by what in the title was mentioned the pendulum and ticking of it. The time represent the time the prisoner is jail and that the time is ticking away while sitting in his cell. The time, also he has left before he will die in prison.
In the masque of red death, the time was represented by a clock each hour the clock would strike. It symbolized that dead was getting closer and closer. The clock strike to make people aware of the people that died of the black plague outside the palace were Prince Prospero lived.
In the tell-tale heart time is, also symbolized by a clock. It symbolizes how much time the old man still had left, because he was old and of course you normally won’t a lot of years still to live. It also represents in how much the old man was going to get killed. The old man who was killed had to suffer a lot of time, before his end would come and this symbolises for how much the old man had to suffer.

- I believe that sensory imagery which is the most important in the story ‘the pit and the pendulum’ is visual imagery. This is, because you can visualise on where the narrator who is in a jail in Toledo, Spain sitting in his cell. You can than, also really visualise how it is that someone is locked up in a cell and has nowhere the go and I visualise by myself If I am sitting in a really small place which you cannot leave for small period of time, but he is sitting their for several days/years.
